It all began with a desire to immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture and language of Mexico City. I set out on a journey to study Spanish, ready to embrace the wonders this incredible city had to offer. Little did I know that this adventure would ignite a passion within me to make a difference in the lives of both locals and visitors.

As I delved deeper into the fabric of Mexico City, my husband and I formed meaningful connections with the locals who shared stories of a changing cityscape. Gentrification was sweeping through the streets, displacing communities and making housing unaffordable for many. We witnessed firsthand the struggle of locals trying to maintain their authentic Mexican way of life amidst rising costs and an influx of tourists.

Inspired by these encounters and armed with a vision, I embarked on a mission to create a meaningful solution. Thus, Mera Casa was born – an homestay with a purpose, dedicated to connecting locals with visitors seeking a genuine Mexican experience while supporting the local community.

Our goal is simple: to foster a symbiotic relationship that allows both visitors and locals to thrive. By staying with our carefully selected hosts, visitors have the opportunity to truly immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Mexican life, learning from those who have deep-rooted connections to the culture.
